Service Description

Create a shimmering starflower brooch using larger fire-polished beads and a simple, repetitive wire-weaving technique—each row is strung as you go, so it’s soothing, beginner-friendly, and surprisingly fast. Finish with a metallic cord–wrapped stem and a pin clasp, then get ready for compliments every time you wear it. Level: Beginner (no prior beading experience required) Kit Fee: $35-$50 (paid to instructor in class)---beads, wire, pin clasps, and stem covering. Arleen will allow students choose what they need and want rather than making a kit (she has everything listed). Supply List - Materials Beads for flower petals - 405 Size 4mm Fire Polish Beads for flower center - 39 Size 4mm Fire Polish Note: For a smaller flower, change the size to 3mm Fire Polish, same quantity Beading Wire - 1 spool each of size 26 gauge, 28 gauge and 34 gauge, silver-tone or brass Pin Clasp, 1 each size 1-1/4" length, solid pin bar (no holes) Cording, metallic, silver, or gold, 3 yards Supply List - Tools and Notions Glue, Aileene's Tacky (small bottle) Wire Cutters Scissors to cut cord Needlenose (chain nose) pliers, smooth jaws Toothpicks, dozen Ruler or tape measure Wire straighteners (optional but helpful) Container to hold beads Bead Mat Reference book: "Beads in Bloom" (optional but helpful) Kit ranges from $35-$50 depending on what you choose in class.
