Quilting with Larene — All Skill Levels Welcome!

Never made a quilt before? You're welcome here! Whether you're a complete beginner eager to learn or an experienced quilter with an unfinished project, join Larene at Sew Cal Craft Studio for a friendly, hands-on quilting class. NEW TO QUILTING? START HERE! You do not need to have made a quilt—or even started a project—to join. Come learn the basics, ask questions, and get guidance as you begin. If you aren't sure what to bring for your first class, contact the studio beforehand so we can help you prepare. ALREADY QUILTING? BRING YOUR PROJECT! Bring an unfinished quilt or another sewing project, work on one of Larene's designs, or get help with machine quilting, appliqué, piecing, and other quilting techniques. Larene may also demonstrate a new design, technique, or idea during class. WHAT YOU CAN WORK ON • Learn the basics and get started on your first quilt • Get help with an unfinished or challenging quilting project • Practice machine quilting, piecing, or appliqué • Start or continue one of Larene's designs • Learn practical techniques and enjoy creating alongside fellow quilters CLASS DETAILS • Instructor: Larene • Class fee: $42 per person • Location: Sew Cal Craft Studio, Huntington Beach • Open to the public—studio membership is not required • Bring your own sewing machine and supplies (see below) WHAT TO BRING Choose the supplies that fit your project. For piecing, consider bringing fat-quarter fabrics or a layer cake. • Sewing machine in good working order, with power cord and foot control • Rotary cutter (required), regular scissors, and thread snips • Fabric-marking tools: air-erasable pen, water-soluble pen, and white fabric pencil or chalk • Straight pins (Larene recommends teal Magic Pins for piecing) • Thread to match your project • Sewing machine needles: size 80 Microtex Sharp, 90/14 Quilting, and 100/16 Topstitch • Sewing machine feet as needed: 1/4-inch foot, open-toe foot, and zipper foot if working with zippers • Ruler: 6 x 24 inches; optional 3 1/2 x 18 1/2-inch or 9 1/2-inch square ruler Don't have everything on the supply list? Any supplies you need can be purchased at the studio on the day of class. Come make progress on your project with the encouragement and expertise of a knowledgeable quilting instructor!
