Seasonal Birds: Watercolor & Embroidery

Service Description

Kit fee: $10 per bird panel. A new bird every month for 12 months! 🐧 Join Jaimee for the beginning of a brand-new 12-month Seasonal Birds: Watercolor & Embroidery series! Each month we’ll create a different bird, combining beautiful permanent watercolor with embroidery and free-motion sketchy sewing. We’re kicking off the series with January’s bird — an adorable penguin! Paint it. Stitch it. Embellish it. Make it completely your own! We’ll begin by adding gorgeous permanent watercolor color to your bird using Derwent Inktense pencils or blocks. Then we’ll head to the sewing machines and add texture, detail, and personality with free-motion stitching and beautiful embellishment threads. Come for one bird that you love, or join us month after month and create the entire collection of 12! Watercolor Supplies Students will need Derwent Inktense permanent watercolor pencils or blocks and a watercolor brush pen. Inktense pencils, blocks, and watercolor brush pens will be available for purchase at Sew Cal Craft Studio. Not sure whether you prefer pencils or blocks? Jaimee will have some available to borrow and try during class before you decide. Sewing Machines Studio sewing machines will be provided for students to use at no additional charge. If you prefer to free-motion stitch on your own machine, you are welcome to bring it with you. Threads Bring threads you’d love to use for embellishing your bird. Pearl cotton works beautifully, and WonderFil Glamour and Accent are wonderful choices for adding extra texture and sparkle. WonderFil threads are also available for purchase in the studio.
