In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to shape soft velvet into delicate petals, assemble them into a stunning bloom, and turn your flower into a charming pincushion that’s as practical as it is pretty. Arlen will share her tips and tricks for working with vintage techniques, specialty tools, and classic materials — no experience needed! In this class, you’ll: Use reproduction antique moulds to create realistic velvet petals Shape, assemble, and embellish your flower Turn your flower into a one-of-a-kind pincushion Learn traditional methods and secrets for timeless results Whether you’re a collector, a sewing enthusiast, or just love vintage crafts, you’ll treasure this unique piece for years to come. Kit fee $20 cash due to Arlene day of class Scissors, sharp, fine blades for "fussy" cutting Scissors, to cut felt Wire cutters or craft scissors to cut stem wire and beading wire Aleene's Tacky Glue, one small bottle and small container with lid to hold glue mixture Ruler 12" or Tape Measure Seam Gauge (optional but helpful) Pins, sewing Needle, sewing with large eye, sharp (used to stitch embroidery floss) Needlenose (chain nose) pliers, smooth jaws or tweezers (not pointy) Awl or large sharp needle (for piercing fabric) Pencil or pen
